--The Rockies had four members of the lineup out at the same time last month -- LF Matt Holliday, RF Brad Hawpe, SS Troy Tulowitzki and 2B Clint Barmes. LHP Jeff Francis, however, is the only member of the rotation to be put on the disabled list since the season started. Jason Hirsh, who was expected to make the rotation, opened the season on the disabled list after pitching only two innings in spring training and has since been activated and optioned to Class AAA Colorado Springs.
--LHP Cedrick Bowers, 30, made his major league debut in the eighth inning. He became the 21st pitcher used by the Rockies this season and the 10th rookie to appear for the team.
--LHP Mark Redman, who will replace Jeff Francis in the rotation, is a familiar face in the Rockies' clubhouse. He pitched for the Rockies last September, was on the postseason roster, and broke camp this spring as a member of the rotation. Redman, 35, was sent out after seven games, six starts, in which he was 2-3 with a 7.84 ERA, including 19 earned runs in 13 2/3 innings his final three starts. With the Class AAA Sky Sox, he was 5-2 with a 4.64 ERA in nine starts and won his last three starts, allowing four earned runs and walking four batters in 18 innings.
--Twice in the last three years a pitcher had worked a complete game with fewer than 80 pitches, according to Elias Sports Bureau, and both times it has been Aaron Cook against San Diego at Coors Field -- Tuesday night and July 25 of last season.
--CF Willy Taveras was out of the lineup Wednesday because of a left quad strain, which forced him out of Tuesday's game. Taveras said it is not as severe as the quad injury a year ago that limited him to only six games after Aug. 14 and none of the final 21 regular-season games. The expectation is he will return to the lineup this weekend.
BY THE NUMBERS 0 -- Wins for the Rockies on their six-game road trip to Kansas City and Detroit. It was the seven winless multi-city trip in franchise history. They were 0-7 in a trip to San Diego and san Francisco June 25-July 1, 1999. They were 0-6 in trips to Yankee Stadium and Tampa Bay June 8-13, 2004; San Francisco and Arizona Aug. 8-13, 2005, and the Mets and Milwaukee Aug. 18-24, 2002. They were 0-5 on trips to Texas and San Francisco July 2-6, 1997, and Los Angeles and Francisco Aug. 9-Sept. 3, 2003.
QUOTE TO NOTE "He's a pretty good model of Ubaldo Jimenez. Remember, even (on Saturday) he had 118 pitches and didn't get through the sixth inning." -- Rockies manager Clint Hurdle, on Detroit RHP Justin Verlander.

Well after dropping 5 of 7 to the worst 2 teams in baseball even I'm starting to doubt. Only 42 games left and they're 14 under .500. The most frustrating thing about this is that Arizona is only 2 games over .500 and still only 8 games in front of the Rox. So it's not over.
So I thought we're all due for a little collective "pick me up" and take a minute to celebrate our favorite moments
Well, they went on the road to sweep the Nationals. Next series is @ Los Angeles. I hope that the Rockies can deal the Dodgers a blow in this one. Even if the Rox chances of making the playoffs are diminishing, I'd hate t

Helton was placed on the 60 day DL yesterday for his back problems. He will likely be out for the season. So Atkins and Stewart will anchor 1B and 3B respectfully for the remainder of the season. I believe Todd had this problem with his back and played through it when several members were on the DL. I'm sure that made his condition worse and put him in this position. Interesting to see what

8 back through Sunday's play, we can't leave LA 7 back (2 of 3), 9 back (1 of 3), or 11 back (0 of 3) and expect to compete for the division any longer. The only way to stay alive is to sweep LA and keep the momentum from playing Washington going.
This is the absolute breaking point for this season. Hurdle seemed to rely a lot last year on the guys mot
I am at a loss for words right now! I thought that a series against the basement dwelling Padres would help put some life back into us but instead we lose 2 out of 3 and get humiliated on Sunday. Giving up 15 runs to the Padres is like losing a street race in a new Dodge Challenger to a guy in a wheelchair and having to give away the pink s
