Reyes remains on the bench: The Sports Xchange notes that 2B Ramon Martinez, a journeyman infielder and September call-up, started for a third straight game Saturday with the Mets dissatisfied with alternatives Luis Castillo and Argenis Reyes. Damion Easley pronounced his strained right quadriceps muscle 80-85 percent and playable, but interim manager Jerry Manuel balked at starting him.

Fantasy Analysis
Martinez is a short-term solution to a long-term problem for the Mets. He's not going to be the team's starting 2B in 2009. Outside of daily leagues, it's too late for him to have an impact on Fantasy leagues this year. Castillo is nothing more than a low-end Fantasy option for spring 2009 at this point. Reyes is nothing more than a defensive-minded infielder and a reserve for the Mets.
